Extra Curricular Activities

Army Cadet Force

Outside of my academic career I have spent a large amount of time with the Army Cadet Force both in Dyfed & Glamorgan and Oxfordshire. As a Lt, I am responsible for coordinating training at detachment level. Having newly completed my First Aid at Work Instructor Qualification, I am now responsible for training cadets and adults in First Aid during vacations. My other duties within the ACF include coordinating Duke of Edinburgh award expeditions and training, running ranges indoors and outdoors, weapons training and coordinating field exercise training.

OCR Exam Board

Over the past few months, I have worked alongside the OCR exam board to help create a progression suite of Digital Security qualification for part time students to undertake to improve their Cyber literacy levels. The work involved speaking with other industry experts as well as educationalists in order to create an interesting and educational set of examinations. These sites are set to go live in February 2014.

Exercise Lion Cub Harambee 2014

As part of my role as an army cadet force officer, I was successful in gaining a place on Exercise Lion Club Harambee in which I was part of a group of 10 instructors who travelled to Sagana, Kenya from the 6th to the 22nd July 2014. During this exercise I conducted outreach work in the area and helped build a new classroom for the school from scratch.
